How did it all begin? It started in a space that had lost its charm, one we were determined to bring back to life. Murillo Café was founded by Eliza Arcaya as a dream: to create a place to gather and enjoy a meal near the Prado Museum, in a location where a café has existed since 1927.

From the very beginning, Guillermo Teixeira has been a key part of this story. In fact, he was the café’s first employee, and over the years, his dedication and commitment have led him to become a partner and one of the driving forces behind the business.

Today, Murillo Café is a warm and welcoming urban bistro where we are delighted to host neighbors, friends, and visitors who fall in love with Madrid, just as we did.

Located right next to the Murillo Gate of the Prado Museum, Murillo Café blends tradition and modernity, preserving the essence of the historic café that once stood here. Our terrace overlooking the Prado provides the perfect setting to enjoy a Mediterranean-inspired menu.

Our menu features Spanish classics such as patatas bravas, Russian salad, and salmorejo, alongside international favorites like fried yuca, as well as our beloved Venezuelan dishes: tequeños, chicken polvorosa, and a very special family recipe, our chocolate fondant.
